New Balham Circle President Steve, in the company of Tristan, John, Don and Tracey-Anne completed the first leg of his planned walk along the Pilgrims Way, which was from Farnham to Puttenham.

Over the period of his presidency Steve Palmer intends to walk the complete pilgrim route from Farnham to Canterbury, in ten stages. Each stage will average about 11 miles.

The first stage on Saturday April 30 tackled the 12 miles from Farnham to Guildford – it would have been 11 miles had the President’s map-reading skills not resulted in an unplanned detour via Waverley!  A beautiful walk in the lee of the Hog’s Back, through fields and bluebell woods, ended with a celebratory pint on arrival in Guildford.

The next stage is on Saturday 28 May and covers Guildford to Box Hill.  All are welcome to come and join the Pilgrimage, which will end in Canterbury next April.  Details for each stage will be placed on the website in advance.
